Visit to Kew Gardens

Visit to Kew Gardens for the Orchid Festival on Saturday 2 March 2019

Last Few Tickets!

Please let Alison know if you wish to come on this trip – we nearly have a full coach but there are some seats left.

The cost is £35 for members and £37 for non members and we can also take advantage of hop-on, hop-off land train for a cost of £4 if you wish

This year the Orchid Festival’s theme is Colombia. The Festival, which is held in the warmth of Princess of Wales Conservatory,  promises cascades of hundreds of hanging orchids to represent the “rainbow river”  and an enchanted forest with life-size jaguars.  Please check Kew’s website where there are photos and a brilliant description of the Festival.

This is a great opportunity to see this amazing and unique display of orchids and not have to worry about driving to Kew and then having to find somewhere to park!  – let the coach just take you there.

Please can you pay for the trip on Thursday 3 January or Thursday 7 February at the very latest as we can get a reduced entrance price by pre paying.

If you have not booked yet just ring me 01386 830084 or email alison.baumber@btinternet.com

Bretforton Garden Club is a thriving and friendly club with almost 100 members, not only from Bretforton but also the surrounding villages. We aim to appeal to anyone who has an interest in gardening or horticulture -  from absolute beginners to more experienced gardeners. Membership is £5 a year.

Our meetings are usually held on the first Thursday in the month at the Bretforton Memorial Hall WR11 7JH starting at 7.30pm, when we arrange speakers on a variety of gardening related subjects such as growing and using herbs; vegetable growing in a small garden; pruning; growing dahlias and plants for awkward corners. We have recently introduced a Plant, Seed and Skill Swop which is proving popular. During the meetings we hold a raffle and serve tea/coffee and biscuits.

Visits to local gardens and specialist nurseries are arranged, particularly during the summer months, as well as day coach trips to gardens further afield. We also welcome member’s suggestions for speakers and visits. Our monthly newsletter and website keeps members well informed.

In the summer, to coincide with the Asparagus Auction which raises money for Bretforton Church, we organise an Open Gardens Event when about 12 local gardens are open to the public and villagers take part in a Scarecrow competition. Refreshments are available as well as a plant stall and tombola. Funds from this event are donated to local charities chosen by club members.

We look forward to welcoming new members.
