BRETFORTON OPEN GARDENS 2018
What an amazing day the 3rd of June was!!!!!
The sun shone all day and looking at the visitors sat round the lawn at The Manor enjoying delicious refreshments made me think that “the lazy days of summer” had arrived at last. Then the choir entertained us with their lovely collection of summer songs – what a way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Wherever you went in the village people were wandering around enjoying the beautiful gardens, contemplating the answers to the quiz and appreciating the work put in by the creators of the scarecrows. There was a lovely, happy, friendly atmosphere.
However, the Open Gardens event wouldn’t have happened without the months of planning put in by the committee, the hard work of the garden owners in preparing their gardens for the event, the members who contributed cakes, tombola prizes & plants and members who volunteered to help on the Saturday evening to set up and dismantle on the Sunday. On the Sunday our team of volunteers made sandwiches, kept the urns full, served refreshments and manned the ticket sales and the plant and tombola stalls. Not forgetting the very essential jobs like transporting tables & chairs and erecting signs and banners. All in all, a great team effort and I would like to thank everyone who helped to make Bretforton Open Gardens 2018 such a great success.
